Hey, Pro advice here: if you're smart make a mesmer. If not, like 99.99% (just a guess based on personal encounters over the years) of Guild Wars players then make a joke class like a dervish or ele where you just have to press your skills on recharge lolmycatcandothat.
Anyone who slated mesmers, you fail. Your ignorance is beyond my comprehension. My guess is you tried and failed to play a mesmer because you wern't smart enough. Quote:

Umm, you guys saying Mesmers are good professions because someone said they deal no damage... you do realize this is in a thread where the OP is asking us to help him pick a profession without giving any information as to what he likes... I believe a Mesmer would not be a good idea because of that, just some food for thoughts why promoting Mesmers is not always a good idea.

In PvE? These skills have a place in PvE?
Arcane Larceny Arcane Thievery Blackout Chaos Storm Complicate Diversion Enchanter's Conundrum Ignorance Mirror of Disenchantment Panic Power Flux Power Leak Price of Pride Psychic Distraction Signet of Distraction Signet of Disruption Signet of Weariness Arcane Languor Psychic Instability Symbolic Celerity Symbolic Posture Ancestor's Visage Conjure Nightmare Conjure Phantasm Ethereal Burden Images of Remorse Imagined Burden Kitah's Burden Recurring Insecurity Sum of All Fears Sympathetic Visage Ether Lord Feedback Power Leech Spirit Shackles Signet of Recall Signet of Humility Lyssa's Balance Shatter Storm Signet of Disenchantment Signet of Midnight Feel free to add any interrupt you wish or slow down skill. Normal mode you should run them over and hard mode interruption isn't good. Web of Disruption, Cry of Frustration, etc. Crippling Anguish with YMLaD (non-mesmer skill) works wonders in Norn solo quests and the mission where you stop the crystal runner. So I didn't add that one... Last edited by Cuilan; Oct 16, 2009 at 05:11 AM // 05:11.. |

Each class has it's strengths in different formats of play but overall as a profession the Mesmer class is anything but bad. I can't fathom how anyone could say otherwise. It's easily the most interesting and diverse class, i could go on. Mesmers are only as powerful as the people controlling them and the sky's the limit! |

If he/she is making a mesmer, then it'll mainly be used in PvP. I have yet to see a good build be used in PvE (no matter the guild, friend, or pug). There is the classic Urgoz Cryway builds, but that requires other players to have CoP.
OP didn't mention warrior? Warriors are a damage class that can be further buffed by necromancers. Warriors can do well in both sides of the game. |

in practice, I want 1 pg main mene not repent of spending time and money ... I have the following pg: lv 20 PvE ranger, assassin, Elementalist, Necromancer, Monk, war, mesmer lv 15 pre searing, I would not want him to choose 1 main character in the future intrigues with the penta obsidian made. I want a character that is strong both in PvP in PvE (I do not like the assassin, and later in the year-end nerf shadow form) and I do not like Monk, Ritu, the necro I use it only for me (DOA )

As others have said, make what you want.
Try them out a bit until you find one that you like. If you're going just for the pricest armor, I'd go ranger...only one that looks decent imo. And aside from that, rangers can be fun to play. |
